Congratulations to all Grade 6's (now Grade 7's!) who were a part of this 21st century learning project last year. As lifelong learners, we should always be expanding on what we already know by thinking of what we would like to find out next. Here are some of your final presentations from last year. Take a look to see what else you have learned since completing your artifact:

Resource Checklist
As you continue on your research journey, remember to use the Resource Checklist in your notebooks to see whether each resource you find is a good one or not:
By tomorrow, everyone should have at least 3 resources posted to our class Edmodo account.

Mini-Lessons
Day 1 of our research phase officially begins tomorrow!
Here are a couple of things we have been up to in the meantime...
Here are a couple of things we have been up to in the meantime...
We learned how to draw each planet and its distance from the Sun to scale. We coloured them accurately with pastels and then created fact sheets to post beside them. Here are some pictures of our hallway display:
It seemed to attract a lot of viewers who stopped by to read the interesting facts and marvel at just how small we really are on Earth compared to our solar system!
Today, we had a mini-lesson on the Earth's moon. Here are some of the things we already knew about the moon:
We also learned about the different phases of the moon, with the help of these two songs. Feel free to have a listen...but we have to warn you...they're very catchy!

Day 3: What Makes A Good I Wonder Question?
On Day 3 of our 21st Century learning journey, we asked ourselves: What makes a good "I Wonder" question?
Together, we came up with this list:

We also asked ourselves:
What makes a bad "I Wonder" question?
Take a look at your three questions. Edit and revise them so that they meet the criteria of the good "I Wonder" question list.
Your homework: Choose the question that you are MOST interested in out of the three you have written/edited/revised.

Day 2: Recording What We Already Know About Space
Here are some snapshots of the notes you created in class after watching the four videos. These notes helped us remember what we already know about space. They also helped us record new things we saw or learned about in the videos.
After watching the videos, discussing facts and ideas with your classmates and teacher, and thinking about what you already know, what else do YOU wonder about Space?

Welcome Grade 6's!
Let the 21st Century Learning Journey Begin...
Our new learning journey in Science began last week when we viewed the following videos to remind ourselves of what we already know about space, and what we would like to explore.
First, The Known Universe...
Then, Highlights of Space Exploration in History:
Next, Curiosity Lands on Mars:
...and finally, An Overview of Our Solar System:
Stay tuned for photos of the lists you came up with in class after watching these videos!
